    Frequently asked questions

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Compression and resizing happen inside your browser on your own device. Your images are never uploaded, so it is safe for ID photos, documents and signatures.

How do I compress a photo to 20 KB, 50 KB or 100 KB?

Choose “To target size (KB)”, type the size or tap a chip like 20 KB or 50 KB, and add your photo. The tool finds the best quality that stays under your limit and shows a green tick when the file is under it. If the limit is very small it can also reduce the dimensions.

What size is a passport photo in pixels?

A 35×45 mm photo printed at 300 DPI is 413×531 pixels, which is what the Passport preset makes. Requirements vary by country and portal, so check the exact size and KB limit your application asks for.

Can I resize a signature to 140×60 pixels between 10 and 20 KB?

Yes. Tap the “Signature 140×60 px · 10–20 KB” preset and add a photo or scan of your signature. It is fitted onto a white background at exactly 140×60 and saved as a JPG under 20 KB. Because such a small image is naturally tiny, the tool pads the file to the 10 KB minimum without changing the picture.

My form says the photo must be at least 10 or 20 KB. Can this help?

Yes. In “To target size (KB)” mode, fill in “Minimum size”. If the compressed JPG comes out smaller, the tool adds harmless padding inside the file so it meets the minimum — the picture itself is not changed.

Which formats can I convert between?

You can open JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP files and save them as JPG, PNG or WebP. Transparent areas get the background colour you choose when saving as JPG. Some browsers (older Safari) cannot save WebP; the tool tells you when that happens.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 images in one go. Each one shows its old and new size, and you can download them one by one or all together as a ZIP file.

Why is my PNG not getting smaller?

PNG is lossless, so its size depends mostly on the dimensions. Choose JPG or WebP for photos, or resize the image, to get a much smaller file.
